PhotoLegal offers photographers legal help in podcast form
A new service of podcasts advising UK photographers about their legal rights has been launched.
PhotoLegal is the result of the collaboration between two photographers – Darren Hector and Phill Price – and a lawyer James Barisic of Everys Solicitors. ‘PhotoLegal is a podcast exploring legal issues that affect UK Photographers, from copyright and protection of images on the internet, to the thorny questions about photography in public places and current anti-terrorism laws,‘ the founders say.
The podcasts are recorded every two weeks and are available freely on the PhotoLegal website. The first recording will be available for download from this week-end and will discuss copyright issues.
BJP’s news editor Olivier Laurent will be the guest of PhotoLegal’s second podcast, which will concentrate on public photography rights and the issues raised during the G20 protests earlier this month.
Kate Day, a journalist and photographer with The Telegraph, will guest two weeks later. She will offer advise on sharing images via social networking websites.

McLaren F1 team in court April 29th 2009
I don’t think this is going to go well for McLaren or Lewis.
“McLaren will appear before an extraordinary meeting of the FIA World Motorsport Council in Paris on April 29, 2009.”
“McLaren are accused of being in specific breach of Article 151c of the sporting code, relating to ‘any fraudulent conduct, or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally.’”

Proud Gallery: Withnail and Me
Exciting news! The Proud gallery in Camden are currently having a Withnail and Me exhibition until June 7th 2009.
Here’s the website: http://www.proud.co.uk/exhibition-Withnail-and-Me_27.aspx.
“Proud Camden’s South Gallery presents Withnail and Me – The Photography of Murray Close. Marking a return to the film’s spiritual Camden home, this exhibition will present the most recognisable images alongside those that have never been seen before and will be the very first show of its kind in the world. Shot through the lens of legendary film photographer Murray Close, this exhibition will expose the immense talent of both those behind the camera and those in front of it, painting a telling portrait of the most iconic movie in cult British cinema.”
I’m hoping to visit the gallery this weekend. “As a youth I used to weep in butchers shops!” -Monty Withnail
